I know most of this site is about climbing but i hope you enjoy it. I'll try to share stuff that's not about climbing as often as i can. Do comment on anything, would love to hear what you think. Let's cheers to that! At one point in my climbing career, I felt I was on the road to really push my climbing to higher levels not attained in the Philippines yet. My one stint of a good climbing performance from 2005-2007 led me to believe I could do it all. I was climbing strong, focused and centered. Unfortunately the same cannot be said nearing the end of 2008, I felt overwhelmed, unprepared and outclassed. I didn't know where to pick myself up. I gave all these excuses and reasons instead of stepping back and reviewing what needed to be done. I had also stepped too far into my mold: practicing what I had done in 2005 and trying to use the same formula to improve, which did not work at all. It is also at this point that the local scene was not growing as fast as I expected it to be. People i climbed with were, as I was, moving away from the sport, engaging in ultimate, running, boxing, mixed martial arts and skating. Competitions were smaller, there were less competitors, and budget was forever the issue. 4 legs a season became 1 leg. On the outdoor scene, there were access issues in Mt. Montalban, while Cebu wasn't developed enough to provide me the growth I needed for the next level, at the time. A number of gyms also closed due to the recession. All in all, there were too many negatives in the air during that time. As a result of my frustration, I used other sports as a distraction to step away from the game first and divert my attention. Summing this all up, I decided to slow down, as well. I decided to rest from training and pursue other things outside climbing. There were lots of ups and downs, but mostly plateaus. I had lost the direction, but I know I need to determine how to get over this rut and of planning, timing and centering life into climbing to make it, once again, my religion, my life. I believe i was born to do this. Now, it's a matter of perfecting my art. My very selfish and self-centered art but it's the only way to get there. I am lucky if i find people looking at it in the same vision/philosphy as me here in the Philippines. I perform and live life the best when I'm directed, and the best direction for me would be to climb upward. I'm so psyched with my climbing the last month which is a good sign for next year! I've already written down what i want to do and need to do for next year! Of course top priority is climbing! We need to start the year on a good note and i need this a lot!
I'm going on my eleventh year of climbing. I've been taking it really easy for the last year and a half! On and off but never stopping. I think i've only been climbing within my standard. Thanks to Kate Rutherford for letting me realize this! This will just not do for 2011. Though the climbing scene in the Philippines is not the best breeding ground for climbing. I'm not one to just follow what's happening within the scene! I have to create my own training grounds and make do with what resources i have for the best results. I've always been serious about my climbing; systematic and following a cycle.
I've noted down my weakness and will target to make these areas my strengths. I've always thought of making only my fingers and back stronger which resulted in lots of leg injuries. Since i've focused on making my legs stronger in the last year through doing some downhill Skating, Tennis and lots of new ways of core training. Now it's about getting a good balance on all of these to get a better overall performance.
I'm also turning 29 in a few months, this maybe a good time to push for another level before i hit thirty. I've always been able to train alone, as a pair on in groups. The motivation only comes from ones self. Right now i believe im packed with it. I just need to sustain it with reasonable goals. Even, if im talking all serious here, climbing, bouldering is still more of an expression of myself as i move through the rock. How intense i feel about anything i do. If you know me, im a very restless person. I have to keep on doing something (crazy or not)! Im going to focus all that energy into climbing! So to the year to come...it's going to be really intense and tiring! library on shuffle and this song plays...haven't heard it in a long time. Makes me feel stronger!
i will light the match this mornin', so i won't be alone watch as she lies silent, for soon light will be gone i will stand arms outstretched, pretend i'm free to roam i will make my way, through, one more day in hell... how much difference does it make how much difference does it make... i will hold the candle till it burns up my arm i'll keep takin' punches until their will grows tired i will stare the sun down until my eyes go blind hey i won't change direction, and i won't change my mind how much difference does it make how much difference does it make.. how much difference... i'll swallow poison, until i grow immune i will scream my lungs out till it fills this room how much difference how much difference how much difference does it make how much difference does it make... I wasn't able to film as much as i wanted because i wanted to free ride more! This event was epic. Watching this film hopefully gives you an idea what went through. Enjoy lang.

The 5th album of Kings of Leon "Come Around Sundown"
They're already playing some of the songs in their live concerts. Lucky you if you if you get to watch them play it live before it's released! From what i've read the crowd been reacting really well to the new stuff!
Columbia Records is excited to announce that Kings of Leon will release the highly anticipated fifth album, Come Around Sundown, on October 19, 2010 in North America and October 18 in the UK. It was recorded in New York at Avatar Studios and produced once again by Angelo Petraglia and Jacquire King. Come Around Sundown is the follow-up to the hugely successful Only By The Night, which sold over six million copies worldwide and garnered four Grammy Awards. It's yet another bold and expansive statement by the Nashville, Tennessee-based quartet who, in the last two years, have become one of the biggest bands in the world; also one of the most creatively restless. As proven throughout their storied career, Kings of Leon love to work. Whether writing, recording or touring, the band is constantly in motion. Once they finished touring in support of Only By The Night at the end of October of 2009, they went back in the studio to record in February 2010. This past June, they returned to their home state with a triumphant headlining slot at the prestigious Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival, and then began a North American shed tour in July that will end on September 23. In two weeks, the band will headline the Outside Lands Music & Arts festival in San Francisco's legendary Golden Gate Park. This short film was shot one sunday afternoon testing out the new hardware! I tried to test showing lots of depth and detail on the shots and i think it will take some time for me to master pulling focus at the right moment but i still hope you enjoy the video! The next project is in the pipeline.
The constant progression in making these short films keeps it fresh and interesting.
I'd like to thank Gilson Chu, Gerard Cancio and Pao Villacorta for the help and support. I'm sure we can make better videos than this!
Took a weekend trip to our rest house in tali with some old friends: Marja,Coy,Cams,Ina and Jose! Decided to skate the open road and some death hills on the way there. It was a good weekend! Enjoy!
I was approached by JB and Bruce on a single day push from Manila to Los Banos around three months ago. They had already checked the route and it looked possible. Originally we planned it for late May. After talking to few friends "The Pabon Brothers, Gilson and Pj Q. This small idea was getting bigger then expected. We decide to do it on independence day. What was suppose to be a group of 4 skaters turned out to be 10 and the support and sponsorships were coming in one by one. After the final meeting two days before the trip it was just all smiles from there. Again we'd like to thank fluid surf for the boards, hardware and outfit. We'd like to thank GIlson CHU for the shoes! PJ Q. for the many sponsors he brought in. It was a good first experience to push 65+ km in a day. Next target is a multi-day push. Want to join?
